Mindfulness for Writers

In this 8-week online workshop at the SFCWI you will find ways to reinvigorate your writing with the benefits of applied mindfulness practices, all while actively writing in a supportive, encouraging atmosphere. You will learn to use mindful awareness to focus the mind, quiet the chatter, and open the senses. We will engage with practices that leave you feeling calmer and more centered, lending your writing greater clarity and quality of imagination.

This class is open to all levels of writers, and we will work with a variety of genres. We will explore the uses of mindfulness and writing as a technique to confront the blank page, enliven the senses in writing, design interesting stories, use voice to connect with audiences, overcome writer’s block and distracting chatter, and be compassionate with ourselves. Join us to learn how to use intentional, mindful strategies to enrich our sense of connection and wellbeing as we engage fully in a writing practice that meets us where we’re at and can help support and sustain us.
