Intro to Poetry

Join us on this deep yet highly accessible dive into the world of poetry. This class will serve as an introduction to both modern AND ancient poetry, and the enduring connection of words; to include moderate writing generation and light feedback (if desired.) Longtime poet and teacher Paul Corman-Roberts will lecture, and facilitate discussion, space and constructive feedback leading up to the development of initial works, responses and even light portfolios if desired.
Class facilitator Paul Corman-Roberts holds a double Masters (MA/MFA) in Poetics from the notorious New College of California. A student of legendary poets David Meltzer, Genevieve Lim, Gloria Frym and Neeli Cherkovski, he is the author of “Bone Moon Palace” from Black Lawrence Press (2021), “The Sincere” from Libran Apocalypse Books (2022) as well as dozens of appearances in publications and anthologies such as The Rumpus, Great Weather for Media, Colossus: Body, Dispatches from Quarantine, The Town, The Racket SF, The San Franciscan, Poetry Flash, the SF Chronicle and Quiet Lightning. He is co-founder and co-director of the Beast Crawl Literary Festival in Oakland CA.
